Even as an adult, digging deep into my stocking is the highlight of opening holiday gifts for me. As a child, the goodies inside my stocking were small-ish treats that I could hide in secret, special places, like under my pillow or in an old jewelry box under my bed. My Avon lady Grandma Marge, who I have spoken of often here on D*S, always sent hostess soaps for my mom to put into my stocking. I rarely used them in the tub, but they always got tucked in my drawer to make my clothes smell like her office, where she packed white paper bags for her customers.
I hope you enjoy these stocking stuffer picks, half of which I’ve purchased for my daughter’s stocking this year. As for the books, I always find a crazy way to somehow attach them to Viola’s stocking, usually with the help of one of those net produce bags and some mini bungee cords. I think she shares my affection for the specialness of stocking stuffers, so I try to keep some good books in, around or hanging from her stocking. –Caitlin
