When Jenny and Adam were expecting their second daughter, Teddi, they decided it was finally time to turn their neglected master bedroom into an oasis that was stylish for adults, and kid-safe for their new addition and their older daughter, Charlotte. Jenny is a publicist and Adam works in television development, so having a room that the couple (and family) could retreat to after a long day was a necessity. The family enlisted the help of Dee Murphy, of Murphy Deesign, to create a more sophisticated space in their Los Angeles, CA home. Dee wanted to make their gorgeous new bed (their old one was left behind by the previous homeowners) the focal point of the room. She also replaced the tired light blue paint — which Jenny and Adam admit was a rushed paint job — with a classic navy blue from Benjamin Moore. The rest of the home features vintage and mid-century pieces, so Dee continued that aesthetic into the bedroom for a cohesive look. The pink Consort Design chair in the corner is both beautiful and also the perfect place for mom and baby to rest or read.
Now, not only does the couple have a bedroom that feels adult, stylish, and reflects the rest of their home, but their daughters Charlotte and Teddi have a place where they’re more than welcome to share family time outside of the main living areas. Thank you Jenny and Adam for sharing your gorgeous bedroom makeover, and give those sweet girls a squeeze for us! —Rebekah

Image above: Jenny and Adam felt like the rest of their house was fairly stylish, but their bedroom was, “nothing short of an embarrassment.” Jenny said of their goal, “We sought to turn the bedroom into a sophisticated yet kid-friendly space where we could relax and unwind both as a couple and a family.”
