Upon entering this converted warehouse apartment, your attention is immediately drawn to its original brickwork and two stunning arched windows. They are the centerpiece of the apartment’s modern living room. In being so, they are the perfect example of how architect Josephine Hurley kept the historic character of the Edwards and Co. Building in Sydney at the core of her Surry Hills Apartment design.
A grand piano sits in front of one of the windows, around the corner from the entrance. It makes for a beautifully elegant combination against the backdrop of a constructed wooden wall in an industrial space.
The bedroom features additional, large windows and an exposed brick wall. The white furnishings make the space feel light, and open. Their no-fuss appearance lets original detailing shine.
This apartment features a bonus upstairs that works as a guest space, except that it has far too many cool features to only use when guests are in town. Copper piping snakes along the living room and kitchenette walls. Light bulbs dot the copper lines, combining art and function. We are filing that one away in DIY ideas.
