From a design standpoint, it can be easier to decorate a home’s main living spaces when they are separate, divided rooms. Couches have designated places to go, the wall color can differ room by room, and the mess in the kitchen doesn’t have to affect the company hanging out in the living room. An open-concept living space means that the aesthetic has to be fairly consistent throughout, but when it’s done well, it’s gorgeous.
The common living area is designed for community. We love that these spaces aren’t closed off, but instead encourage visual engagement from area to area.
