Lately I’ve found myself drawn to abstract art, as it feels like such a boundless territory. The painter Arshile Gorky once said “Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he cannot see physically with his eyes.” It’s such a wonderful way of describing how abstract art has the power to inspire our individual curiosities and the reaches of our imaginations. When looking at something abstract, we’re free to see anything we want. Abstract art becomes full of opportunities, not only for the artist but for the viewer too.
Instagram and other social media venues have given us the opportunity to be inspired by artists from all over the world who share a bit of themselves through their work. Receiving a daily dose of art in my feed has grown my interest in various art forms, and a few weeks ago it even inspired me to make an attempt at painting, something I had never tried before! The wonderful Instagram feeds of these 14 abstract painters have sparked my imagination. I hope you’ll enjoy them too! — Sofia
