Earth Tu Face DIY Bath Recipes

Just in time for the stress of the holidays, Bay Area-based brand Earth Tu Face is sharing two different recipes with us for bath soaks! Whether it’s the reason you’ve fallen in love with the brand, or you’re just now being introduced, Earth Tu Face was started by Sarah Buscho and Marina Storm, two herbalists who believe that “you should never put on your skin what you wouldn’t put in your mouth,” and as such, their products are created with all natural, totally plant-based, and food grade ingredients.

We’re all more than ready for a little rest and relaxation, and these recipes each make up to four or five baths for an escape from daily stressors. The two recipes Earth Tu Face is sharing today are for a Detoxifying Bath Soak and a Nourishing Bath Tea — perfect as a soothing ritual to treat yourself with, or even a homemade gift for someone special. —Rebekah

Detoxifying Bath Soak

Supplies
3 cups gray sea salt
2 cups Epsom salt
Small handful dried organic calendula petals
Handful dried organic peppermint leaves
Handful dried organic lemon verbena leaves
10 ml organic eucalyptus essential oil
5 ml organic peppermint essential oil
5 ml organic lavender essential oil
4 or more 8 oz glass containers or 6 5” x 7” muslin bags

Recipe creates enough salt for approximately 5 baths

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1. Add all the dry ingredients to a bowl. This includes the sea salt, Epsom salt, calendula petals, peppermint leaves and lemon verbena leaves.

Step 2. Pour the eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender essential oils over the dry ingredients and stir.

Step 3. Transfer to glass jars to store. Or, if you don’t want to get petals in your tub, you can opt for muslin bags instead. Just fill each bag with one cup of the mixture. There isn’t so much plant material that the bags are necessary, but they’re a tidier option if you want extra protection for your bath or drain.

To use in the tub: If you’re storing the mix in a glass container, scoop out one cup and add it directly under the faucet. Or if you’re using a muslin bag, add it instead, and feel free to keep it closed. Adding the salt soak to running water helps the uplifting, tension-easing ingredients steep into the bath.

Nourishing Bath Tea

Supplies
¼ cup Epsom salt
½ teaspoon non-GMO sunflower vitamin E
1 cup organic, gluten-free oats
15 drops organic ylang ylang essential oil
Small handful dried organic calendula petals
Small handful dried organic lavender buds
Small handful dried organic rose petals
4 muslin bags, approximately 2” x 4” each

Recipe creates approximately 4 single-use salt soak bags

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1. In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients together and stir. This includes Epsom salt, oats, and a small handful each of dried calendula petals, lavender buds and rose petals.

Step 2. Add vitamin E and ylang ylang essential oil to the mixture and stir.

Step 3. Fill muslin bags with the mixture. When using 2” x 4” muslin bags, as you see here, the recipe fills about 4 bags.
