It comes as no surprise that designers often turn to nature for inspiration. Nothing quite compares to the beauty of layered rocks, tangled trees and the unique shapes and organic forms that grow from the ground and envelop the world around us. Sometimes, these moments stop us in our tracks—ripples on water, the zigzag of a tree branch or a stunning sunrise—and other times we have to lean in to catch the intricate elegance of our landscape. These whispers of nature are quiet and subtle, only appearing when we are attentive enough to notice them.
Long walks are one of my favorite ways to clear my head and gather inspiration. I leave my phone behind, leash my walking buddy and let my mind wander with my feet. The fresh air always settles my thoughts and enables me to encounter the details of the world around me with new eyes.
