Genevieve Gorder in Brooklyn on Monday + Best of the Web

I’m so excited to announce an update for our Good Company Magazine launch on Monday in Brooklyn! The lovely and talented Genevieve Gorder of Trading Spaces will be joining us! If you’ve been reading DS for a while, you’ve probably heard me talk about how much Genevieve means to me and how she is the reason I wanted to work in design. Her energy and spirit and determination mean so much to me so I’m thrilled to have her join Gabi Fresh (of Premme), Roachele Negron of Rayo & Honey, TANAÏS of Hi Wildflower and Andrea Gompf of Remezcla for our panel on Monday. If you’re in the Brooklyn area this coming Monday, come join us for a discussion about life, work and community at 7 pm! Grab tickets here. Until then, have a great weekend and check out our favorite stories from around the web this week. xo, Grace

Wise Words: If you only listen to one podcast this week, please listen to Angel Kyoto Williams on On Being this week. This episode was incredible. And it gave me so much hope and peace.

Flower Power: This amazing Australian floral installation at Design Files is a must-see.

Matte Black: This matte black Montauk beach house is so dreamy.

Small Home Big Style: I love this home tour at a military base that Shavonda shared at SG this week.

Inspiration: If you didn’t read Janelle Monae’s interview in Rolling Stone this week, please do. She gave me so much hope and her decision to live openly and bravely was so beautiful. Things like this make me so hopeful for the next generation of LGBTQ artists and makers (and everyone else, too!). Apparently her article is the reason searches for the term “pansexual” are trending now. Yay for better understanding identities and each other.

Desktop Style: Pencil benches? Eraser benches? I am here for Present + Correct’s desktop furniture roundup.

Wise Women: I love Man Repeller’s series on women in creative careers. This quote felt spot-on, “Change your perspective on failure and understand that mistakes or obstacles are lessons on how to do things better. Never be afraid of learning how to improve.” -Quiana Parks
