When I tell people I’m a stylist, I usually add “and a bit of an obsessive collector” with only a hint of sarcasm. Maintaining a collection of props while not letting the clutter get the best of you is a tall order, but it’s an order that stylist and designer Arianna Jones fills. She balances ever so gracefully between minimal corners and meaningful collections in her East Dallas, TX rental.
Arianna elaborates, “Dating back to my earliest memories, there has been this consistent thread of art, culture, authenticity and community that formed the cornerstone of all my values, and it is important to me that everything I choose to bring into my life and home reflect those values.”
Arianna’s rental was a serendipitous find. She was on the verge of settling for an apartment on the outskirts of the city, a rental that would have compromised much of her wish list. She was on the way to meet a friend for lunch when a wrong turn led to a “for lease” sign in the neighborhood she had been coveting. She toured the apartment, saw wood floors, white walls and a flood of natural light, and it felt meant to be. She signed a lease and began the patient process of making it feel like her own.
“I moved in after breaking off an engagement, so it took a while to feel a sense of pride and ownership of my space; to no longer view it as a temporary solution. To fully embrace it as a home of my very own was only something that could happen with time.”
Today her home is a work/live combination, facets she demarcates through the decorating. The handmade accents in her home form points on the Dallas map, featuring many a local maker. The busier areas inspire her styling and act as a studio for creating Owynn, her own line of “simple bags for stylish folks,” while the calmer, more minimal areas help her to unwind and recharge her creative mind. —Quelcy
