Following the exciting news from HAY and their newly launched US-based hay.com, the Danish design collective has opened the doors to its first brick and mortar US store in Portland, Oregon. Located in the city’s thriving and creative Pearl District in a former factory that dates back to 1890, the store features 3,400 square feet of retail space that will also be used for unique design programs and events with the local community.
The vibe of the store is homey, relaxed and cheerful in color with HAY’s punchy and cleverly-designed assortment of objects and furniture. The open floor plan design is divided up with each space dedicated to a specific room in the home, including kitchen, living, dining and office so that visitors can intuitively navigate the shop and interact with HAY’s iconic collection of indoor and outdoor furniture, textiles, kitchenware, tabletop accessories and home decor in real life. HAY’s own New Order line of shelving and storage designed in collaboration with designer Stefan Diez helps to delineate each section of the store.
